HEADING TO FRANKSTON CITY?

Let us take you

Fire up the group chat, you’re heading to Frankston, and were going to take you there!

Located on the south-east shores of Port Phillip Bay, less than an hour drive from Melbourne, Frankston is a cruisy, coastal city filled with colour, beach shacks and waterfront views. As one of Victoria’s Top Tourism Towns (2022) Frankston is a creative destination characterised by its arts, culture and events.

The city-bush-bay blend will have you stopping to experience coastal wanders, world class art, epic events and some truly unique dining and nature based experiences.
It’s no wondering you’re going.

A city filled with endless colour and with laneways which lead to water, let us take you..

TOP 10 THINGS TO SEE AND DO

1. Take a Tour

Explore Frankston City's street art scene by joining Australia’s Best Street Art Walking Tour (2022) in a 1.5 hour experience. The tour will take you through Frankston's laneways and streets to find out how artists from the local burbs, Melbourne, New Zealand, France, Germany, in fact, artists from around the globe are shaping Frankston's urban identity by creating unique pieces of public art for everyone to enjoy. With warmer weather approaching the twilight after dark experience could be for you, and now you can add on a beer and bao burger dining option. Check it all out and book ahead of time.

2. Take part

The city is a thriving hub of entertainment and events on a weekly basis. Make the most of it while you’re in town. Sunset Twilight Markets – live music, food and cocktails by the bay (monthly October-April), Little Beauty Market showcases over 100 of Melbourne's very best makers and creators (monthly September-April) and Seaford Farmers’ Market  selling fresh produce (monthly) are some of our regular offerings and places to shop, eat and gather.

For our epic line up events sign up to What’s On Frankston or the Frankston Gig Guide, your weekly live music entertainment hub. Feel more like raising your heart rate? Elevating your senses? Having some good old fashion fun? Hit up the Playne Street strip (and surrounds) and the arcade, bowling and mini golf at Strike Bowling, Holey Moley, General Public and Excape, or for some real fash-un hit up Bayside Shopping Centre.

3. Take a Look

Frankston Pier is the place for the fishing folk, scuba diving community and weekend visitors taking in the water views. Underneath the pier is whole other world of colour and movement that beckons all to dive in and explore. On the pier itself, artist Louise Lavarack has created the sculptural installation Sight Line II. Can you figure out the secret message? Beyond the Pier explore the waterfront to see sculptures, cross the Landmark Bridge to grab a coffee or cocktail and meander the boardwalk to capture the lights of Melbourne from Olivers Hill.

4. Take a sip
Renowned for live music, the night life in Frankston’s city centre won’t disappoint. Head to The Deck, Pier Hotel, Grand Hotel, Cheeky Squire or The Hop Shop for fairy lights, live music, roof top bars, the city is also home to night clubs and more tradition pubs - we have it all. More recently Frankston City’s brewery culture has turned it up a notch. Now home to brewers and distillers such as Banks Brewing, Dainton Brewery, That Spirited Lot Distillers and Biersal Brewery which are four of seven stops along the City’s Beer and Spirit Trail.

5. Take a moment
Take a moment to surround yourself in natural habitat by following 7.5km walking trail along Kananook Creek. You’ll pass through urban Frankston and Long Island, into the peace and serenity of coastal Seaford and Carrum. Prefer to do it by water? Hire a canoe or SUP and paddle to Seaford where you’ll find a bustling village vibe, great food, cocktails, shopping, coffee and more.

6. Take a photo
Instagrammable sunrises and sunsets are a speciality in Frankston City. Seaford Pier, best known for its crystal clear blue waters and pure white sand, is where you can get that epic shot around dusk or dawn.  And while the classic beach boxes cannot be missed, it is the sunset over the bay and lights of Melbourne from Olivers Hill which will have your pic being shared by the masses.

7. Take a bike
No car? No problem. The City is now home to 150 pedal-assisted e-bikes to help you explore Frankston’s abundant parks, playgrounds, local businesses and attractions, in a sustainable and active way.
